After months of reviewing and planning, we are ready for the 2015 Convoy for Cancer Families. We have done the new registration forms, have taken our first Convoy Festival Stall booking - thanks BnS Party Stuff! - and are ready for the fun of the 2015 Convoy for Cancer Families!
Just like last year, we are taking Early Bird Registrations. So for just $40 per vehicle you get to be part of the Convoy and a wonderful Driver Bag full of goodies including a Convoy T-Shirt.
To keep everyone happy, we have redesigned the registration forms and we are also able to take single vehicle registrations directly from the website. In keeping everyone happy, we are also including ourselves and the ACT Police. Despite quite a few reminders, there were a number of trucks in the 2014 Convoy for Cancer Families with unsecured children in the cabs. Although we understand the driver's wanting to have the children as part of the event; The Cancer Support Group and most especially the ACT Police need to consider the safety and security of everyone involved.
In fact, we heard that there were three trucks that bumped into each other during the Convoy and this was very concerning to us. It only took a second of distraction for this to occur. Luckily no one was riding unsecured in the cab of these trucks so no one was injured and the damage to the trucks was minor (or so we heard). But it does clearly demonstrate exactly why we are asking for all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts while in the trucks. And the ACT Police have told us that they will be looking for unsecured passengers this year.
To make sure that everyone is very well aware of this and that we are doing all we can to make sure all participants are safe, we have updated our registration to include very clear terms and conditions. When we receive your completed registration form, you are confirming that you will abide by the terms and conditions. Please make sure you read them carefully.
So that was all very serious but it definitely had to be said. Now for the even more serious - making money for The Cancer Support Group. We will be having the Lead Truck auction again and we know of a couple of trucking companies who are doing all they can to make sure their bid gives them the best chance to be Lead Truck. TJS Transport is hosting the Support'a'Truck which will take names and business details for a price (starting from $20) and have them sign written on the side of their truck. And for the following 12 months, that truck will drive around Canberra and interstate displaying all those names and logos! How hugely exciting! If there are other people/companies doing fundraising for their Lead Truck bid, we would love to hear about it and who knows, your company might get a shout out form Scotty & Nige on 104.7fm.
So they are just a few of the details. But the main thing is that WE ARE NOW TAKING REGISTRATIONS! So get in early, one of the things we learnt at the 2014 Convoy for Cancer Families is that we might limit the number of entries to 350 trucks. And to make sure that we know exactly which trucks and bikes are registered, all the entries will have to display their registration sticker to get into the starting location and be part of the Convoy.
Lots to take in and we may have forgotten to tell you something, so WATCH THIS SPACE!
